GIFs never seem to get old, people have been creating and using them
ever since their introduction. However creating a GIF is a tucked away
feature in Photoshop which isn’t made obvious at first.
Here is a simple GIF I made for the UltraLinx logo.

I was asked a couple of times how I made it, so here is a very quick tutorial. Note that this tutorial is done with Photoshop CS6.

2. You want to start adding your content. Then to make the background change like in my GIF above you just put the layers in blocks. You can see I’ve stretched the text block all the way across, this keeps the text shown throughout the timeline. You can use the play button to see how it looks.

3. Once you’re happy with your timeline. Go to ‘Save for Web’. Choose GIF and then choose whether you would like it looping once or forever. And that’s it, your GIF is ready.

Of course you’re not just limited to static content. You can drag video footage right into the timeline if you like.
