Vectortuts
Welcome to this months showcase of our favorite Adobe Illustrator tutorials available on Vectortuts+. Vectortuts+ is a blog of tutorials, articles, freebies and more on all things vector! We publish tutorials on techniques and effects to make awesome vector graphics in Illustrator. My name is Sharon Milne and I’m the Editor of Vectortuts+ and it is my pleasure to share with the Illustrator community five of our most interesting and popular tutorials published during April 2013.

Quick Tip: Creating a Bazinga! Text Treatment in Adobe Illustrator

With this tutorial, Chris Carey will show you how to create a Bazinga text effect made famous by Sheldon from the sitcom The Big Bang Theory in Adobe Illustrator. He’ll be using some techniques to add multiple effects to a single shape, duplicating and copying objects quickly, creating a pattern, and even rotating that pattern without disrupting the shape it’s applied too.
You can check out more of his work over on deviantART.

How to Create a Rainbow Colored Portrait From a Stock Image in Illustrator

Sharon Milne shows how she created a simple, rainbow colored portrait in Adobe Illustrator using a stock image as base art. She adds subtle decoration to the portrait with the help of a Scatter Brush and  plays with a splash of color to create the rainbow effect.
You can check out more of her work over on her website ChewedKandi.net or by following her on Facebook.

Using the Blend Tool to Create a Halftone Effect Portrait in Adobe Illustrator

The Blend Tool has been part of Adobe Illustrator for a long time and it’s very simple to work with. The tool creates objects that fill the space between two key objects. We can use this tool to create many effects. In this tutorial, Cristiano Siqueira shows you how to use the Blend Tool to create semi-realistic halftones with lines.
You can check out more of his work on his website CrisVector.com.

Every month, as well as sharing our favorite tutorials from Vectortuts+, I’ll be select one of our favorite tutorials from our archives. This month we have a tutorial by veteran Vectortuts+ author, Cheryl Graham. This tutorial was originally published in January 2010 and is still a very useful screen cast which people return to again and again.

Royal 3D Text Effect in Photoshop CS6

Just make sure to check the 3D settings under Edit -> Preferences -> Performance, and Edit -> Preferences -> 3D. Default values should work fine, but if anything seems to be not working properly you can always check those settings. Step 1 - Create a new 1600 x 1200 px document and Fill the Background with black. Create the text in white using the font Dunkin Sans. The font size is 400 pt and the text is better written in All Caps (if you’re not using only numbers). Step 2 - With the text layer selected, go to 3D -> New Extrusion from Selected Layer.
